Chen Yi at Mao Mountain

The film tells a series of stories that occurred between Chen Yi and the then ten-year-old Luan Zhihong using a reverse narrative technique, showcasing the great character of the revolutionary leader. A black "Audi" drives along the tree-lined avenue, with picturesque scenery. Retired provincial official Li Zhihong returns to her hometown at the invitation of the Maoshan area, accompanied by her granddaughter. After decades away, the dramatic changes in her hometown leave her deeply moved. A young mayor warmly welcomes them. Upon learning that the mayor's grandfather was the district chief Fan at Maoshan in the past, memories come flooding back to Director Li. In June 1938, Chen Yi led the New Fourth Army to establish a revolutionary base in the Maoshan area to conduct anti-Japanese struggles. Just as everyone was celebrating the victory of the Weigang ambush, the headquarters' staff Xu was assassinated.
