The green Verdies are the small, yet courageous protectors of the lakeside. Young Verdies only become protectors when their hair turns brown. Until then, life is uneventful. The youngsters with green hair are prohibited from flying on warblers, rowing alone, and riding wild frogs at the rodeo. Willy Whistle's ultimate aspiration is to become a protector, but his inquisitive nature often leads him into dilemmas. The entire lake is endangered when the lakeside's foes, the Grimps and the swans, form an alliance. The protectors find themselves powerless, but Willy devises a bold plan to rescue his home and his friend, Jeremiah Jump, who is trapped. Fortunately, he is not alone, as Grandpa, the water snakes, and the frogs also come to his assistance.
