The Tokyo Metropolitan Police's Criminal Investigation Division, which focuses on various major cases, has recently welcomed an extraordinary newcomer, Hinako Toudou (played by Haru). Toudou possesses an astonishing memory that enables her to remember everything she sees; she is extremely familiar with various heinous cases that have occurred over the years, and she can always draw effective information from her mental database at critical moments to assist in solving crimes. Her partner, Yasuhisa Tokairin (played by Yu Yokoyama), is also an unconventional detective who is willing to use illegal methods to solve cases, driven by a cynical outlook shaped by a dark past. Tokairin discovers that Toudou has an almost pathological interest in murder cases, especially bizarre serial murders.
