In the lunar month of July, the Ghost Festival approaches. The streets and alleys are filled with a chilling wind, ghostly figures emerge, creating a desolate and bleak scene. In a dark alley, Zonghua (played by Zhang Jiahui), who has failed in business on the mainland, walks in. He was cheated by friends and lost everything, facing the painful changes of life. Fortunately, his elderly father, Xiaotian (played by Lin Wei), accepted him back. Xiaotian, the head of a divine kung fu theater troupe, is currently organizing the members for their annual performance for the spirits. Unexpectedly, before the show starts, Xiaotian suddenly falls ill, and the inexperienced Zonghua is entrusted to take over as the substitute leader. He is flustered and struggles to gain everyone's approval, but thanks to the beautiful leading actress, Xiaoyan (played by Liu Xinyou), who lends a helping hand, they seem to develop a mutual affection through this ordeal. However, as the performance date approaches, eerie and frightening events begin to multiply: his rebellious sister suddenly changes her attitude, Xiaoyan oscillates between warm and cold, a disfigured woman flashes by, and there are glimpses of himself jumping off a building. There are reasons for grievances and debts have their owners; whatever one does will bear its consequences—even escaping to the ends of the earth cannot change that...
