The protagonists of the story, Ben Epstein (Bryan Greenberg) and Cam Calderon (Victor Rasuk), are two young men in their twenties living in the Brooklyn area of New York City, and they are very ambitious. They are eager to immerse themselves in the vibrant world of New York and carve out their own niche in the fiercely competitive fashion scene, realizing their American Dream through their own efforts. They are not lacking in brains, insight, or a network of connections; the only thing they lack is a little bit of luck. Cam's cousin, Rene (Luis Guzman), has helped them a lot, as he himself is troubled by the promotion of a new energy drink. Their good friend Domingo, who has an 'all-powerful' network of relationships, has also brought many benefits to their business. Lake Bell plays the female lead, Rachel, Ben's ex-girlfriend. Rachel is chasing her own career and new boyfriend, wanting nothing to do with Ben again, but fate pulls them back together.
