In the winter of 1982, a helicopter from a Norwegian research team suddenly broke the tranquility of the Antarctic continent, frantically chasing a sled dog, and ultimately crashed near an American research camp. The American team had heard of the sudden decrease in personnel from the Norwegian expedition, so pilot MacReady (played by Kurt Russell) and others rushed to the Norwegian camp, only to find the area in ruins scattered with strange corpses, along with evidence that the Norwegians had encountered some kind of biofrozen organism. Doctor Blair (played by Wilford Brimley) examined the mutated corpses but could not determine the cause of the mutations. That night, the dogs in the kennel were attacked and began to mutate, as an unknown organism threatened the lives of the research team members in this desolate Antarctic wilderness... This film is a remake of "The Thing from Another World" directed by Howard Hawks in 1951.
