After moving from Manhattan to the upscale neighborhood of Stuyvesant, Joanna (played by Nicole Kidman) and her husband (played by Matthew Broderick) are ready to start their new life. Joanna wants to build good relationships with the neighbors, but the personalities of the other wives are almost perfect, making Joanna feel that they are unreachable. Among these wealthy wives, only one, named Barbie, stands out as a normal person in Joanna's eyes, and they become friends. The other wives are busy every day taking care of their husbands and following their every command. Joanna and Barbie are both very curious as to why the neighbor wives seem to have no distinct personalities or preferences. Thus, they decide to investigate, and the results astonish them—wealthy men have turned their wives into robots, desiring their wives to be completely obedient. These half-human, half-machine wives have a 'public secret' behind them, and this dark hand gradually reaches out to Joanna and Barbie. How will they respond?
