In what seems to be an endless black night, a dilapidated and cold modern metropolis is shrouded, with an ominous atmosphere lingering in the air. John Murdo (played by Rufus Sewell) wakes up in a bathtub at a hotel, with no recollection of what happened before, even forgetting his identity and name. Mysterious phone calls, a cold corpse, and unknown pursuers leave him at a loss. He begins to investigate the only clues he has to uncover his identity and the cause of the chaotic situation. The bizarre aspects of this dark world slowly reveal themselves as he delves deeper into his investigation... The film won the Best Science Fiction Film at the 1998 Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films, the Silver Screen Award at the 1998 Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival, the Pegasus Audience Award at the 1999 Brussels International Festival of Fantasy Film, and the Best Original Screenplay Award from the Australian Film Critics Association in 1999. ©Douban
