Adam is a teenage artist who grew up after aliens took over Earth. The Vuvv are a super-intelligent alien species that brought marvelous technology to Earth, but only the wealthiest can afford it. The rest of humanity, whose livelihoods have become obsolete, are forced to scrape by in the tourism industry. For Adam and his first love, Chloe, this means live-streaming their courtship process for the amusement of coffee table-sized Vuvv, who find human love both strange and fascinating. When Adam and Chloe's plans go awry, Adam and his mother must find a way to escape the increasingly terrifying alien bureaucracy. Writer and director Cory Finley ('Thoroughbreds', Sundance Film Festival 2017) returns to Park City with this bold, original sci-fi journey, featuring a breakthrough performance by Asante Black. The film, adapted from the work of National Book Award winner M.T. Anderson, cleverly combines comedic fantasy with melancholic emotion, allowing audiences to deeply explore themes of class and commerce.
