The film is divided into two stories, both adapted from Edgar Allan Poe's novels. Jessica (played by Adrienne Barbeau) has a husband, Ernest (played by Bingo O'Malley), who is gravely ill. Psychiatrist Robert (played by Ramy Zada) has an affair with Jessica. The two conspire to encourage Ernest to leave millions in inheritance to his wife. The couple ultimately gets what they want, but an angry Ernest is resurrected and seeks revenge... Photographer Rod (played by Harvey Keitel) has a girlfriend named Annabelle (played by Madeleine Potter) who brings home a stray black cat. The cat's cries irritate the already troubled Rod to the breaking point. In a fit of rage, he kills the black cat, only to find himself plunged into a nightmare of darkness and terror...
