Ellen (played by Maggie Cheung), who has been abandoned by her husband, falls in love at first sight with Mike (played by Leon Lai), the cynical founder of a tech company, in San Francisco, USA. Ellen's nature leads her to unconsciously invade Mike's personal space, which causes the free-spirited Mike to resist her; however, he is ultimately moved by Ellen's unconditional dedication, and the two start living together. But after the initial passion and warmth, they begin to argue frequently due to Mike's company facing financial difficulties, revealing their vastly different worldviews. In a state of extreme disappointment, Ellen proposes a breakup. Yet, much like the collapse of Hong Kong City that allowed for the union of Bai Liusu and Fan Liuyuan, a year later, an earthquake in San Francisco provides an opportunity for them to reconnect.
