The film is based on the real Battle of Yangshan. The well-equipped enemy, the 66th Division, under the command of Chiang Kai-shek's proud student Song Ruike, relied on the treacherous terrain of Yangshan to stubbornly resist, resulting in significant casualties during our army's initial attack. Our 2nd and 3rd Divisions, under the command of Commander Chen Zaidao, timely summarized the lessons learned, adjusted their deployments, and engaged in a bloody battle of wits and courage against the cunning Song Ruike.The film does not elaborate much on the battle process but uses the background of the Battle of Yangshan to depict a little-known and tumultuous yet moving story through the fate of thirty-two trapped soldiers of the 7th Company and battlefield reporter Liu Ying, celebrating the fearless spirit of revolutionary predecessors like Chen Zaidao who strategized and fought bravely in critical battles.
