Young woman Elizabeth Benton (played by Melanie Papalia) is conducting research on human behavior as she applies for a project and funding through the online chat software theDEN. She attempts to chat with netizens from around the world, hoping to investigate their internet habits and interests. The virtual world provides people with a space to release their selves and desires, while the camera fulfills their urge to vent and peep. Browsing the internet, people from all over the world openly showcase their humorous, ugly, and sinful sides. One day, Elizabeth accidentally chats with a girl who has a still avatar, and then witnesses the brutal murder of the other person. Alarmed, Elizabeth quickly calls the police, but they remain noncommittal; her boyfriend Damian (played by David Schlachtenhaufen) also suspects the video is fabricated. Until one day, Damian suddenly disappears, and her friends become involved in a series of terrifying events. The internet allows the bloom of evil to flourish...
