A single mother (played by Halle Berry) lives in an isolated cabin in the woods with her two children. She tells the kids that the outside world has been destroyed and that there are dangerous supernatural creatures living in the forest. The only way to protect themselves is by tying themselves closely to the cabin with several long ropes. The mother repeatedly warns the children never to let go of the ropes, but they gradually begin to doubt whether the monsters actually exist, and perhaps the real problem lies with their mother...
