Ning Caichen (played by Leslie Cheung) and Yan Chixia (played by Wu Ma) bury Xiao Qian's ashes and then part ways. When Ning Caichen returns to the world, it is an era of treacherous officials in power, political chaos, and hardships for the people. He accidentally enters a black shop and is almost killed, but is mistakenly captured by the constable and thrown into prison, where he meets the famous scholar Zhuge Wolong (played by Gu Feng), who saves him. After escaping from prison, he passes by an abandoned temple, where he is entangled with the young ghostly Taoist Zhiqiu Yiye (played by Jacky Cheung), leading to constant misunderstandings. The mountain villa is eerie and terrifying, hiding a giant corpse, but before the corpse appears, a group of white-clothed ghosts emerges. Ning accidentally removes the mask from one of the women and discovers she looks exactly like his past lover Xiao Qian (played by Joey Wong)...
