The owner of the biopharmaceutical factory, Franklin (played by Samuel L. Susan and her research team extract proteins from shark brains in a well-equipped underwater research facility and inject them into dying human brain cells. To extract more shark brain proteins, Susan also increases the brain capacity of the sharks. This move causes the sharks, initially intended as test subjects, to become stronger and smarter. Shark expert Carter (played by Thomas Jane) notices the sharks behaving unusually due to their close interactions and warns Susan, but she ignores him. Ultimately, during the final test, those previously turned into human test subjects, the vicious sharks, turn against humanity in retaliation...
