The Second Schleswig War, also known as the Prussian-Danish War, broke out in 1864. The war is a key turning point in Danish history, where Prussia, Austria, and several members of the North German Confederation waged war against Denmark. Denmark was defeated in the Prussian-Danish War, losing 40% of its territory and 38.5% of its population. Although the war lasted only six months, it was the bloodiest conflict in Danish history, and in many versions of European history classes, this war is regarded as the first step of Otto von Bismarck in unifying the German Confederation. Two children of the estate's servants, Peter Jensen and Raus Jensen, both fell in love with the estate manager's daughter, Inge. However, the two brothers were called to serve due to the Prussian-Danish War. Before they left, Raus secretly had relations with Inge, who unexpectedly became pregnant and had to go to the battlefield to find the father of her child. But the child's biological father, Raus, died on the battlefield. The war destroyed the land of Denmark and shattered countless previously happy families.
