In the highest prison on the Moon, the ruthless Borglodan alien Boris (played by Jemaine Clement) escapes from prison. He committed his evil crimes in 1969, ultimately having an arm severed by the young K (played by Josh Brolin) and was sent to prison. His purpose for escaping is to travel through time and kill K. Meanwhile, J (played by Will Smith) and K (played by Tommy Lee Jones) continue to deal with various chaos caused by aliens, but due to their silence on Boris's case, the two longtime partners grow distant.
