Mai Daomei (played by Eric Tsang) lives up to his name, having experienced countless hardships throughout his life. His job at a lingerie factory causes the company's performance to plummet, his girlfriend leaves him, and his elder sister, who is over thirty, remains unmarried because of him. In desperation, his sister gifts him a family heirloom jade bracelet in hopes of changing his luck. Depressed, Mai Daomei drives under the influence and is hit, falling down a slope, where he hazily encounters the ghostly figures of Yan Wang and the horse-faced ghost, who inform him that his time has not come yet, and that he will die after the deaths of three people: Wang Baiwan, Bao Daili, and Shishen. Upon regaining consciousness, Mai Daomei runs into Wang Baiwan, who has just been kidnapped, and learns that Shishen is one of the kidnappers, while Bao Daili is Shishen's girlfriend. In an attempt to save himself, Mai Daomei tries to protect both Bao Daili and Shishen, thus getting involved in the kidnapping case. Meanwhile, Shishen's sister, Shinv (played by Cherie Chung), captures Mai Daomei's heart. How will Mai Daomei save himself and win Shinv's affection?
