Five years ago, Allison Simon (played by Jaime Pressly), who ended a failed marriage, moved to a new house with her young daughter Claire (played by Kylie Rogers), ready to start a new life. The dramatic change in life left Claire troubled, and the legend of her new home being a haunted house only increased the girl's anxiety. On the first day they arrived, Claire found a strange and scary doll under the floorboards. She insisted on keeping it and talked to the doll every night about her worries. After being bullied at school, Claire refused to go back, and her temper became increasingly strange and violent. Even more frightening, anyone who had previously crossed her and the doll suffered various terrible accidents.
