The victim was Michiko Oshiya, who worked at a cleaning company and lived in Shiga Prefecture. The resident of the murder scene, Mutsuo Yoshikawa, is also missing. Detectives from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's First Investigative Division, including Junpei Komiya (played by Junpei Kumabata), cannot find any connection between Yoshikawa and Oshiya, which has led the investigation into a deadlock.
