In 2018, the war between the Skynet system and humanity plunged the world into an apocalyptic state. The spiritual leader of the resistance, John Connor (played by Christian Bale), gained a new insight on how to defeat Skynet while leading a mission. The Skynet system then timely introduced a new target ranking, in which Connor was ranked second, while his young father, Kyle Reese, was at the top. Meanwhile, a strong man named Marcus (played by Sam Worthington) appears in the ruins of Los Angeles, having forgotten his own past experiences. He meets the resistance fighter Reese by chance, and they team up to head to the resistance headquarters. However, they are attacked by machines along the way, resulting in Reese's capture. Alone, Marcus is guided by the resistance fighter Blair and encounters Connor, who is fated to meet him, but the conflict between humans and machines forces Connor to see Marcus as an enemy...
