"The Swordswoman" tells the story set in the late Goryeo dynasty, where the most powerful female swordsman, Seollang (played by Jeon Do-yeon), hides her identity and trains her daughter, Seok-hee (played by Kim Go-eun), as a secret weapon for revenge; she is both a mother and a mentor. Their target for revenge, Deok-ki (played by Lee Byung-hun), though of a lowly birth, covets the throne. They meet again after 18 years, resulting in a thrilling showdown.
