Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence), the girl on fire, has survived although her home has been destroyed. Gale (played by Liam Hemsworth) also escaped, and Katniss's family is safe, but Peeta (played by Josh Hutcherson) has been captured by the Capitol. District 13 doesn't really exist; there is a rebellion, new leaders are emerging, and a revolution is slowly unfolding. Katniss's escape from the nightmarish arena was premeditated; she is both a participant and a pawn in the rebellion, though she is unaware of this. District 13 has emerged from hiding and plans to overthrow the Capitol's rule. It seems that everyone is involved in this meticulously planned operation, and only Katniss remains in the dark. The rebellion draws Katniss into its vortex; she is forced to become a pawn and bear the responsibility for the mission of many, shouldering the burden of changing the future of Panem. To achieve this, she must cast aside her anger and distrust; she must become the mockingjay of the rebels—no matter what the cost.
