Liang Zhe (played by Liang Ji), who has been away from home for many years, returns to his hometown in Shanxi to prepare for his grandfather's funeral. However, the journey home is much longer than he imagined. On his way from the county town to the village, he transfers between four different modes of transportation, encounters relatives he hasn't seen in years, runs into an old classmate driving a coal truck, and even reunites with his first love, while also picking up a stray puppy. A fortune teller tells him he has a tough fate; he arrives at a crossroads in life where his homeland feels like a foreign place, and the scars of time still ache faintly. This film won the Best Film Award at the 6th Pingyao International Film Festival.
