The film "The Battle of Xiushuihezi" recreates history through documentary techniques and tells the story of how, after the victory of the War of Resistance in 1945, the Kuomintang government, with the aid of the United States, launched a large-scale mobilization of troops into Northeast China in an attempt to eliminate the People's Revolutionary Forces led by the Communist Party of China and monopolize the region. To thwart the Kuomintang's intentions, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China decided to draw a number of troops and personnel from various liberated areas within the country to advance into Northeast China in accordance with the strategy of "developing to the north and defending to the south," cooperating with the existing Northeast Democratic United Army and other forces that fought alongside the Soviet Army to carry out the strategic mission of developing Northeast China, leading to a struggle between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. The film depicts the annihilation battle that took place in February 1946 in Xiushuihezi, Faku County, Liaoning Province, by the Northeast Democratic United Army.
