Stark Industries is the largest arms supplier for the U.S. military globally, and its new leader Tony Stark (played by Robert Downey Jr.) is charming and intelligent. He works seamlessly with company veteran Obadiah Stane (played by Jeff Bridges) to take Stark Industries to new heights. In real life, Tony is passionate about collecting luxury sports cars, inventing new creations, and, of course, enjoying romantic flings. Fortunately, he has a diligent assistant like Virginia 'Pepper' Potts (played by Gwyneth Paltrow) to take care of everything, allowing him to live a carefree playboy lifestyle. While traveling to the Middle East to showcase new weapons for the military, Tony and his entourage are attacked by terrorists. He is mortally wounded by shrapnel, and with the help of Dr. Yinsen, a nuclear-powered artificial heart is implanted in his chest. The terrorists demand that Tony create powerful destructive weapons; he and Yinsen feign cooperation while secretly developing a suit of armor powered by fusion energy. Donning the armor, Tony wreaks havoc on the terrorists' base and, after returning to the U.S., he makes further improvements to it. Unbeknownst to him, there are darker conspiracies waiting ahead...
