At the end of World War II, German soldier Kolikivins (played by Michael Mendl) became a prisoner of war and was sentenced to 25 years in prison. At that time, his pregnant wife and daughter had no news of him, and could only pray to God for his survival. After a long journey, a group of prisoners was sent to a labor camp, which had no walls or fences, but the extreme cold and the vast icy expanse became nearly insurmountable barriers. This place was located in eastern Siberia, and upon arrival, due to the weather and diseases, many unfortunate souls perished. However, the inhuman life of miners was the real hell. Kolikivins never forgot his distant family, and after a failed escape attempt, he suffered abuse from the guards, which only strengthened his determination to escape. Later, with the help of an elderly doctor, Kolikivins managed to escape from the labor camp, gaining hope of returning home. Yet in front of him lay a 'death zone' spanning 14,000 kilometers. On the snow-covered icy plains, Kolikivins started his long journey home alone... This film has won multiple international awards, and its plot originates from a true escape story.
