 Synopsis
After a year of hard-fought battles, Liu Bocheng (played by Fu Xuecheng) and Deng Xiaoping (played by Lu Qi) successfully tore open a gap in the Yellow River with their army, penetrating the Kuomintang-controlled area like a gleaming dagger. However, the Second Field Army suddenly changed direction, seemingly retreating back towards the Yellow River. Chiang Kai-shek (played by Sun Feihu) mistakenly believed that Liu and Deng were exhausted and trying to escape, so he mobilized 140,000 troops in an attempt to completely annihilate the enemy in the flooded area. On the muddy and difficult journey, the Second Field Army suffered the relentless bombardment from the National Army, becoming trapped and unable to move in the flooded zone. On the other hand, Chen Geng struggled to find a crossing plan, and the strategic counterattack was on the brink of failure as the liberation war reached a critical moment. Deng Xiaoping decisively suggested discarding the burdens and making a final advance towards the Dabie Mountains. The results achieved through countless sacrifices played a decisive role in the historical trajectory of the country.
