It was a critical period during the Anti-Japanese War, when Captain Wei Desheng (played by Zhao Erkang) of a certain unit of the Northeast Anti-Japanese Coalition was moving through the lofty mountains with his troops. It was the severe winter snow season, and the soldiers not only had to endure the torment of the freezing cold but also face sudden attacks from the Japanese invaders. During an encounter battle, Wei Desheng was captured by the enemy while covering for his comrades. A conscience-stricken puppet soldier helped him escape. Despite suffering from gunshot wounds, Wei endured the intense pain to catch up with his team, and a month passed in the blink of an eye. He unexpectedly reunited with comrades who had previously fallen behind and a group of gold miners. The cheerful and upright leader of the gold miners, Old Man Qi, kept Wei by his side and further assisted him in obtaining a precious pass. After that, Wei experienced many hardships as he wandered around, and even gained precious love from Qi’s daughter, Yuzhen (played by Siqin Gaowa), but he always missed his military family and longed to return home.
