Battle of Shanghai

After the three major campaigns, our East China Field Army was ordered by the Central Committee to strategically surround Shanghai. The commander of the Shanghai-Hangzhou garrison, Tang Yunfu (played by Wang Ban), led 300,000 Kuomintang troops in stubborn resistance, preparing to engage in a decisive battle with our army. Based on the Central Committee's instructions and following the operational guideline of liberating Shanghai while preserving the city, our army aimed to lure the enemy's main force to the outskirts to annihilate them. Corps Commander Fang (played by Ding Ni) and Political Commissar Zhang (played by Gao Yan) made careful plans for the troops to enter the city. With the cooperation of Lin Fan (played by Hu Xiaoguang), the head of the Shanghai underground party, our forces advanced into the urban area and occupied a large area south of the Suzhou River. The Kuomintang troops withdrew to the north bank of the Suzhou River to continue their resistance, while the remnants of the ragtag Kuomintang forces led by Liu Yi (played by Liu Jiyun) huddled in the city center, hopelessly awaiting their defeat. Our vanguard troops engaged in urban warfare with the remaining enemies in the city, capturing important locations such as the power plant and the city government. Under the overwhelming military and political pressure, the desperate enemy finally raised the white flag...
