 Synopsis
In 1945, as World War II was coming to a close, Japan, a major member of the evil Axis powers, was in its final throes of arrogance. That year, the pivotal Battle of Okinawa began, with thousands of spirited American soldiers sent to Okinawa, facing the heavy defenses and extreme dangers of Hacksaw Ridge. Among this group, there was a medic who was unwilling to pick up a weapon. His name was Desmond Doss (played by Andrew Garfield), from Virginia, USA. At the outbreak of the Pacific War, the frail Desmond volunteered to serve as a medic to save lives. However, due to his childhood and family background, he long refused to handle firearms and was therefore willing to be court-martialed for refusing to bear arms. After many twists and turns, Desmond ultimately arrived at Hacksaw Ridge with his comrades. Amidst the gunfire, countless soldiers fell in an instant. With the support of his faith and conviction, Desmond single-handedly saved dozens of lives on the brink of death... This film is based on a true story.
