Bloodshed in the Lone City

In 1943, the invading Japanese army launched an attack on Changde, a military stronghold in northwest Hunan, to save their inevitable defeat. The local Nationalist Army's 74th Army, 57th Division, was urgently ordered to defend, and the eight thousand soldiers code-named Tiger Pen, led by division commander Yu Chengwan (played by Lv Liangwei), prepared to fight to the death against an enemy many times their size. On the eve of battle, company commander Feng Baohua (played by Yuan Wenkang) postponed his wedding with his fiancée Wanqing (played by An Yixuan) to dedicate himself fully to the preparations for war. The local Miao youth Huang Erhu (played by Xie Mengwei), motivated by a mix of national hatred and personal resentment towards the Japanese, eagerly joined the army. Before the enemy arrived, the morale of the military and civilians in Changde was already ignited! However, under the overwhelming firepower of the Japanese, Deshan and Hefu fell one after another, and Changde became an isolated city. Yu Chengwan ordered the entire division to share the fate of the city, and the Tiger Pen soldiers engaged in a fierce struggle for every inch of land amidst gas and artillery fire. Ultimately, the 57th Division wrote an immortal chapter in the history of the War of Resistance at the cost of their own annihilation.
