The commander of the Shanghai-Hangzhou garrison, Tang Yunfu (played by Wang Ban), led 300,000 Kuomintang troops in stubborn resistance, preparing to engage in a decisive battle with our army. Based on the Central Committee's instructions and following the operational guideline of liberating Shanghai while preserving the city, our army aimed to lure the enemy's main force to the outskirts to annihilate them. Corps Commander Fang (played by Ding Ni) and Political Commissar Zhang (played by Gao Yan) made careful plans for the troops to enter the city.
